How to Receive Eternal Salvation

by Jill Shannon on April 24, 2012

If you have never made a heartfelt decision to accept the salvation and atonement offered by Yeshua the Messiah’s (Jesus Christ’s) sacrifice, then this article is written expressly for you.

The God who created the heavens and the earth, as described in the Book of Genesis, calls Himself by numerous titles and names. His covenant Name is the Hebrew Name “YAHVEH.” This is best translated, “the God who IS and EXISTS, apart from created things”. He also calls Himself our Father and our King, the Holy One of Israel, and the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He is also called “The Father” in the writings of the New Testament.

The prophet Isaiah tells us that “all of us like sheep have gone astray; each has turned to his own way.” There is not one who has not sinned and fallen short of the righteous standards of a holy God. This is equally true for our Jewish people, who transgressed the Law of Moses, and for gentile peoples, who transgressed the laws written into their consciences by their Creator.

When the Lord saw that mankind would be forever cast away from His presence due to our sin, He sent a part of Himself from heaven to become flesh and blood. This part of Himself was always His Son, even before the creation of the universe. Even King David declared that God has a Son in Psalm 2, which was written one-thousand years before Yeshua was born! He is the only human who has never sinned in thought, word or deed.

When this child was born of a Jewish virgin in Israel, His name was “Yeshua,” which in Hebrew means “Salvation.” Isaiah 9:6 demonstrates that this child will be called “God.”

According to Leviticus, the blood of animals was a necessary sacrifice to atone for the sins of Israel. However, their blood was not sufficient to permanently remove sin from us. Therefore, the Son of God offered Himself as a sinless offering for the guilt of each one. This is described in Isaiah 53, which was written 700 years before Yeshua was born.

Although both Jews and gentiles appeared responsible for His death, Yeshua gave His life voluntarily. It was the Father’s will and the Son’s agreement to allow this suffering and death to take place, for our sake. On the third day, He was physically raised from death to life, and this same eternal life is granted to all who follow Him.

When we die, we must face the righteous Judge in Heaven. He has established the laws of justice such that NO ONE will be justified apart from the atoning death of Yeshua. No matter how “good” or “religious” one is, all will be cast into hell for their sins unless they are cleansed by Yeshua’s blood. There is no exception to this heavenly decree.

When we pray to receive Yeshua, the Holy Spirit of God comes to dwell in our spirits, and He never departs from us after this moment. In Hebrew, the Holy Spirit is called the “Ruach ha Kodesh.” He is the part of God who is able to be everywhere at the same time, and who searches our hearts at all times. He always glorifies the crucified and risen Lord Yeshua, and always speaks truth which is in agreement with everything written in the Old and New Covenants.

When we pray to receive Yeshua, we are also agreeing to lay down our rights, control and ownership of our lives. If He is not “Lord” of our lives, He cannot be our Savior. He has bought us with the price of His own blood, and we must agree to His sovereign control of our lives.

Please count the cost before you pray this prayer, because it is very serious business to make Yeshua Lord of your life. Almost all of the biblical writers were martyred for the Lord’s sake and it is common in other nations today. However, the reward we will receive in Heaven far outweighs these hardships, and we will dwell with Him forever in unimaginable glory.

If you would like to receive Yeshua now, pray the following prayer from your heart:

“Dear Lord God, Creator of all things, I humble myself before You. I know I have sinned in my thoughts, words and deeds and am not worthy to enter Heaven based on my own righteousness or worthiness.

“I know that You love me, and have sent your Son Yeshua to die as a substitute for my punishment. I accept His sacrifice on the cross as my atonement. I believe that You raised Him from the dead on the third day, that He is now alive in Heaven, and that I, too, will be raised to life.

I ask for Your Holy Spirit to come to dwell in me. I surrender my control of my life and choose to make You Lord of my life and destiny. I want to be with You forever in Heaven.

“Thank You for so great a salvation and the free gift of eternal life. I pray In Yeshua’s Name. Amen.”

If you have sincerely prayed this prayer, you are now a new person, reborn in your spirit into His life of holiness, righteousness and love. Begin to read the Bible every day, both Old and New Testaments. Begin with the gospel of Matthew and Isaiah 52:13 through the end of chapter 53. Begin to pray to the Lord every day. Speak with Him as you would speak to a friend, but with much love, reverence and respect for who His is. Find a church or Messianic congregation where the people truly love Yeshua and live in the power of His Holy Spirit. They will help you to grow in your new faith. The Lord will be with you, now and forever. Never deny Him, no matter what wicked men say to you or do to you, and you will receive eternal life.

If you have received the Lord, you can contact the ministry, “Messianic Vision” for prayer support, and for incredible resources that will help you grow quickly in the Lord.
